FIELD: agriculture; animal breeding.

SUBSTANCE: invention represents a method for dilution of stallion semen for storage in a cooled and frozen state. Method involves dilution of freshly obtained stallion sperm with LCHCY medium taking into account sperm concentration and measurement of hydrogen ion concentration (pH) in the diluted sperm. If the concentration of sperm cells is less than or equal to 200 mln/ml, the pH value should be within range of 6.3–6.5; if the concentration of sperm cells is more than 200 mln/ml, the pH value should be within range of 6.1–6.4. If the pH value is less than the optimum value, then 4.2% sodium bicarbonate solution is added under pH control to the optimum value, and if the pH value is more than the optimum value, then drop-by-drop addition of 2% chelaton solution is carried out, under pH control, to the optimum value.

EFFECT: method allows to optimize storage conditions of sperm cells with achievement of maximum time of their preservation outside the body.
