FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of metallurgical raw materials in ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy by sintering or calcination, namely, to production of agglomerated raw materials. To protect the grate field of pallet or grate cars, a protective bed is formed, in the capacity of which briquettes are loaded onto the grates of the pallet or grate cars, obtained by pressing and subsequent calcination from a mixture, which includes iron-ore concentrate, bentonite, cement and water and/or polymer binder. Flux may be added to the charge before its pressing. Besides, higher efficiency of calcination or agglomeration equipment and increased resistance of grate at replacement of protective bed material.

EFFECT: reduced dust formation, increased strength during calcination in conditions of protective bed and obtaining of standard iron-ore raw material.
