SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a loop reactor for producing biomass by culturing methanotrophic bacterial cells, comprising a loop part, having a circulation pump, a degassing tank and a fermentation liquid outlet. Degassing tank comprises a first outlet connecting the degassing tank to the first leg of the loop part; a first inlet connecting the degassing tank to the second leg of the loop part; and vent pipe for discharge of exhaust gases, first leg and second leg are located vertically. At that, the first outlet and/or the first leg of the loop part is equipped with an anti-vortex device, the fermentation reactor contains one or more points of gas injection, followed by one or more static mixers. Fermentation reactor additionally contains one or more active devices for gas distribution in fermentation liquid, which represent a micro- or nano-diffuser for introducing and/or distributing gas into a fermentation liquid and/or a dynamic moving device.
