SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of biotechnology. A method for increasing biomass production and/or growth rate of microorganisms in the fermentation method (variants) and a fermentation tank are proposed. The method includes the provision of microorganisms including a methanotrophic bacterial cell, the provision of a substrate for fermentation, the mixing of microorganisms and the substrate, the addition of fermentation broth to the fermentation tank, the introduction of a gaseous substrate into the fermentation broth and the fermentation procedure for a fermentation period of at least 1 hour. At the same time, the gaseous substrate includes CO2, with the amount of CO2 introduced into the fermentation broth being not less than 0.001 l/min/l of the fermentation broth. In one variant of the method, the gaseous substrate includes a combination of two or more carbon sources. The fermentation tank includes an entrance for the introduction of a gas-exchange substrate and is an aerolift reactor, a loop reactor or a U-shaped reactor, where the entrance is designed to introduce CO2 in an amount equal to at least 0.001 l/min/l of fermentation broth.

EFFECT: inventions provide increased biomass production and growth rate of microorganisms.
