SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of construction of snow-ice coverings of aerodromes and can be used for construction of airfields in polar regions of the planet, where there are zones of cover glaciers (the Antarctica, the Arctic islands), as well as on long-term floating pack ice of the Arctic. Task to be solved by the invention is to develop an efficient method of creating a snow-ice cover of airfields in the zone of cover glaciers (the Antarctica, the Arctic islands) and on long-term floating pack ice of the Arctic. Method of construction of snow-ice cover on glacial domes or ice of reservoir includes: milling ice surface with tooth cutter to obtain ice crushed stone with fraction of 0.5 cm to 10–15 cm in maximum cross-section; levelling of the obtained layer of ice crushed stone on the surface with correction of irregularities of the ice base; accumulation of snow on the obtained crushed stone layer; primary rolling of snow layer; repeated milling of the obtained snow-ice mass, its subsequent levelling and compaction with successive increase in the load of compactors until density of not less than 0.55 g/cm is achieved. It is preferable that the cycle, including: primary rolling of the accumulated snow layer; repeated milling of the obtained snow-ice mass; its subsequent levelling and compaction with successive increase in the load of compaction means until density is not less than 0.55 g/cm, is carried out without long breaks for 8–10 hours.

EFFECT: prolongation of operational period of snow-ice cover of aerodromes in polar regions in summer period.
