FIELD: natural and chemical threads and fibres.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agroindustrial and textile production of bast-fibre raw materials and can be used for production of textile articles and other fibre-containing materials. Disclosed method of producing cottonised fibre includes refining a strip of bast-fibre, drying and chopping. At that, the strip is refined using a water retting, after which the strip is passed between the squeezing rolls to reduce the moisture content of the fibres, and then subjected to alternating operations of contact drying of the strip with preliminary increase of its width and kneading by means of corrugated rollers. Further, the strip is cut by sliding alternating bending, in which the strip arriving to the cutting zone is held between the rotating pressure rolls, and strip free end in cutting zone is subjected to tension due to inertia and friction forces, which occur due to sliding alternating bending relative to rounded edges of plates moving in a circle relative to axis located perpendicular to direction of incoming strip.

EFFECT: invention increases quality of chopped fibres due to their more complete purification from non-fibrous impurities, as well as reduces production costs.
