FIELD: laser marking.

SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to a class of specialized consumables for laser marking, which enable to obtain a contrast color image on the surface of a physical medium, included in the composition of any product, or which is such, having weight, shape and consumer properties. Method of color marking on the surface of a physical medium consists in the following: on the surface of physical carrier 3, two layers of ink 1 and 2 are applied, having different spectral characteristics of absorption of wavelengths of laser radiation of a marking device operating in the infrared region, wherein the IR-absorbing ink is in layer 1, and the IR-transparent ink is in layer 2, all the ink of layer 1 form a plurality of colors A, and all the ink of layer 2 form a plurality of colors B, entire set of ordered pairs of colors of layers 1 and 2 is in the set of Cartesian product of these two sets × B; wherein the Cartesian power n of the set B consists of all ordered sets of ink colors with IR-transparent spectral characteristics, which enable to create a multi-color printing consisting of color tuples of length n, whole set of colors is determined by multiplying set B by itself n times × B × ... × B or Bn; further, the beam of marker 6, strictly following the pattern, acts on the infrared absorbing layer of article 1, removes it from the surface of the layer of infrared transparent ink 2, partially converting into a gas, and leaves visible surface of physical carrier of article in layer of IR-transparent ink; by combining colors in a layer of infrared transparent ink, after processing by the marker beam, a contrast multi-color image 1 is obtained and m color tuples of length n, m={1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ...n}n.

EFFECT: broader capabilities of laser markers owing to use of specially prepared consumables which enable to obtain a color graphic image.
