FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for catalytic oxidation of methanol to formaldehyde, widely used in various industries. Device for catalytic oxidation of methanol to formaldehyde includes a reactor with a built-in tube bundle with inner diameter of tubes of 25 mm, their thickness being 2 mm and length of 1200 mm, filled with an iron-molybdenum catalyst and a ceramic inert nozzle in ratio of 4:1 by volume, and a heat exchanger for heat carrier circulation. Number of tubes in built-in tube space is (10.8–12) × 103 pcs. Ceramic nozzle is placed in the upper and lower sections of the reaction tubes at ratio of 1:(1–1.5) by volume. As a heat exchanger, a Dowtherm vapor condenser with a lens condenser is used, in which there are 2400 steel pipes with height of 1600 mm, diameter of 32 and thickness of 2 mm.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of the process under consideration, reduces formation in formaldehyde-containing gas, such by-products as formic acid, dimethyl ether, methyl formate, to achieve the degree of conversion of methanol fed into reactor to 96–97 wt.%, prolong the service life of the iron-molybdenum catalyst by 10%.
