FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to synthesis of melamine from urea. Described is a reactor for non-catalytic synthesis of melamine from urea at high pressure, as well as a method for synthesis of melamine from urea through a non-catalytic high-pressure process. Reactor has coaxial inner reaction zone and outer reaction zone, at least one connecting window between said reaction zones, adapted to transfer liquid melt of crude melamine formed in the first reaction zone to the second reaction zone for further treatment. At least one connection opening has a liquid inlet section configured to be below the level of the liquid melt of melamine contained in the first reaction zone during operation, so that this inlet section is recessed into the liquid melt of melamine with creation of a hydraulic seal between the first and second reaction zones.
EFFECT: high purity of the final melamine-containing product.
