FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to vascular surgery, and can be used for identification of valvular insufficiency in small saphenous vein in commissural propagation of retrograde blood flow. Method involves ultrasonic duplex angioscanning. First, a saphenopopliteal anastomosis is visualized, then a transition point of the saphenopopliteal anastomosis into a popliteal vein and a segment of the popliteal vein in the proximal direction. Retrograde blood flow is recorded in spectral Doppler sonography at the height of the Valsalva test; valve insufficiency is identified at rate of 2 cm/s and more, starting from 2nd second of the test.
EFFECT: method enables effective and simple identification of valvular insufficiency in the basin of the lesser saphenous vein.
