FIELD: well drilling.
SUBSTANCE: method for drilling and opening of a subglacial lake, carried out using hot silicone fluid, consists in the fact that hot silicone liquid is fed into a sealed pipe-in-pipe heat exchanger in its internal flexible pipeline, providing its circulation in heat exchanger during well drilling while hot and creating conditions for maintenance of melt water in well in liquid state. Drilling of the well and the opening of the subglacial lake is carried out by melting ice with a thermal drilling bit fixed at the end of a sealed heat exchanger, and after opening of subglacial lake heat exchanger with thermal drilling bit is removed from well, providing possibility of well filling with lake water.
EFFECT: providing environmentally safe access to subglacial lakes in Antarctica.
