FIELD: drilling.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of drilling boreholes in glaciers in order to study unexplored mineral deposits and subglacial lakes, exploration whereof is complicated by the ice cover. The method consists in drilling a glacial borehole with hot dimethylpolysiloxane liquid supplied under pressure through a nozzle at the end of a flexible pipeline, wherein said liquid does not freeze in the borehole upon completion of drilling and can be later extracted therefrom. The flexible pipeline therein is lowered to the ice surface through a casing string placed in the firn.
EFFECT: possibility to conduct geological exploration of subglacial rocks, fast and environmentally friendly access to subglacial lakes, maintening the borehole in a working condition for a long time after the completion of drilling, as well as possibility of conservation thereof are provided.
