FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering, in particular to radio-electronic systems for measuring movement parameters of aircraft, and can be used in ground-based information-measuring systems for air traffic control. Disclosed method of estimating the range to a manoeuvring aircraft is carried out by an information-measuring air traffic control system using tertiary information processing based on observations of several radar stations with known positions. In the method, coordinates of an aerial target are determined, information on the range to the aircraft is transmitted from each radar station together with residuals of Kalman filtration and dispersions of the residual in range to the air traffic control centre, where tertiary processing of information is performed in order to determine the distance to the manoeuvring aerial target.
EFFECT: high accuracy of estimating range and high throughput of aircraft in the area of an aerodrome at a given level of flight safety.
