METHOD FOR RECONSTRUCTING THE LATERAL EDGE OF THE EYE IN THE SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF THE LOWER EYELID GROWTHS Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61F9/07

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to plastic, reconstructive surgery, oncology. Lower eyelid neoplasm is excised within healthy tissues, and haemostasis is performed. It involves a transconjunctival approach to a lateral infraorbital fat pack. Flap of the lateral infraorbital fat pack is moved on the feeding vessel to the area of the formed defect of the conjunctiva of the lower eyelid. Flap of the lateral infraorbital fat pack is fixed on the feeding vessel to the edges of the conjunctiva of the lower eyelid. Free cartilage autograft is sampled, a skin flap of the upper eyelid is isolated in the area of excess tissues with keeping the base of the flap intact at the lateral edge of the eye. Skin flap of the upper eyelid is moved to the area of the formed defect of the lower tarsal plate. Skin flap of the upper eyelid is fixed to the edges of the skin of the lower eyelid; a free cartilage autograft is fixed between the skin and fat grafts. Operation is completed by closing the skin defect of the upper eyelid with an intradermal suture.

EFFECT: method allows to preserve functional state of eye lachrymal apparatus, periobital tissues, trophism of soft tissues, prevents eye dysfunction, enables to preserve aesthetics, considerably improves patient’s quality of life.
