FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to oncology. Middle cervical crease is marked from an anterior edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle to the midline of the neck. Skin, subcutaneous fat, subcutaneous muscle of neck are incised. Thyroidectomy and modified radical cervical lymph node dissection are performed. Paratracheal and pretracheal fat is removed. Haemostasis and wound drainage are performed. Subcutaneous fat and subcutaneous muscle of the neck are closed with interrupted sutures and the skin is closed with an intradermal suture.
EFFECT: method enables creating an incision in the region of the middle cervical fold when performing cervical lymph node dissection and thyroidectomy in surgical management of highly differentiated thyroid cancer, which solves the problem of aesthetics of neck cover tissues in the remote postoperative period.
