FIELD: welding.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in butt welding of thermocouples of various types from wires with diameter from 30 to 200 mcm. Ends of the wire electrodes are coaxially introduced into the capillary of the quartz tube until contact, the wire electrodes are compressed and fixed against movement relative to the quartz tube. Process gas is passed through capillary and laser pulse is supplied through quartz tube wall to point of contact of ends of wire electrodes. Method is carried out using a device, on the base of which a laser radiation source is installed with the possibility of moving along three coordinates, which is combined with a microscope and a digital magnifying video camera with a monitor. A capillary quartz tube with a channel is placed on the support. One of the retainers is equipped with a device for supplying process gas into the channel of the quartz tube.
EFFECT: invention provides for convergence of axes of wire electrodes with accuracy not exceeding several microns, and butt welding without considerable thickening of wire electrodes with diameter less than 200 mcm.
