SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of an additive to catalytic cracking catalysts for improving cracking of heavy residue. Invention is used for catalytic cracking of heavy residue of oil fractions. Described is an additive to catalytic cracking catalysts for improving cracking of a heavy residue, obtained from a suspension containing the following in terms of dry residue: 1–10 wt.% of finely dispersed zeolite Y, 1–15 wt.% of yttrium oxide, 5–20 wt.% of boehmite, 10–30 wt.% of binder, the rest is sources of active aluminum oxide. Method of producing said additive to catalytic cracking catalysts for improving cracking of a heavy residue includes the following steps: preparing a suspension of type Y zeolite, sources of active aluminum oxide, yttrium oxide, boehmite and binding components with a dry substance concentration of 450–600 g/l; molding when spraying the suspension in the flue gas medium with temperature of 140–170 °C; the obtained microspheres are calcined at temperature of 550–650 °C in a rotary calcination furnace.

EFFECT: obtaining an additive which increases conversion of products and ratio of LCG/HCG and reduces output of coke and dry gas during catalytic cracking, as well as having high strength and, accordingly, high degree of retention in the system.
