METHOD OF SEPARATING OIL FROM OIL SLUDGE Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC C02F1/40 

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method aims at improving environmental safety of production facilities, where oil sludge is formed, reducing operating costs of enterprises for utilization of oil sludge, transformation of production wastes – oil sludge – into a resource. For processing oil sludge in the proposed technical solution, it is proposed to use physical and chemical methods. Technological scheme provides for successively implemented stages of reducing the degree of water-cut of the water-oil emulsion with preliminary removal of coarse impurities of oil sludge in the composition: a raw material tank equipped with a heating system, circulation and submersible mixers, a dressing tank equipped with a coalescent unit, emulsion receiving tank equipped with internal heater, three-phase decanter centrifuge, high-speed three-phase plate separator, as well as cake dehydration equipment. Specific feature of this technical solution is that non-ionic hydrophobic demulsifier is added to water-oil emulsion, and non-ionic hydrophilic demulsifier is added to oil-water emulsion.

EFFECT: proposed method of oil sludge treatment enables to obtain a prepared product (dehydrated oil) with water content of not more than 1 wt %; this product is allowed to be sent back to the production cycle of the enterprise, which will make it possible to reduce irrecoverable losses of oil products.
