SUBSTANCE: invention relates to extraction of lithium by adsorption, particularly to lithium sorbent and method of its production. Raw material for producing a lithium sorbent contains an active material of a lithium sorbent, a hydrophilic binder and reinforcing fibers. Active material of the lithium sorbent is a lithium sorbent based on an aluminum salt. Active material of the lithium sorbent is obtained from lithium hydroxide and aluminum ash by gelation, aging and heating in the presence of water. Hydrophilic binder contains an inorganic or organic binder. Inorganic binder is silica sol, and the organic binder is a hydrophilic macromolecular polymer containing a carbamide-formaldehyde resin, or polyvinyl alcohol, or a combination thereof.

EFFECT: accelerated adsorption kinetics and increased sorption capacity of the lithium sorbent.
