FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining content of phosphorus in soil and can be used, for example, in agriculture. Near-infrared spectral probing data are recorded at several points. For each point, calculating an index characterizing the content of phosphorus in the soil cover, by formula , where I760 is the reflection intensity on the spectral band in the wavelength region of 760 nm, W/m2, I710 is the intensity of reflection on the spectral band in the region of wavelength 710 nm, W/m2. After that, soil samples are taken from two points with minimum and maximum values of the calculated index and phosphorus concentration in them is determined by laboratory methods. Calibration curve "soil index—concentration of phosphorus" is plotted and equation of calibration straight line is determined, according to which phosphorus content in soil is calculated.
