FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry of biologically active polymers. Described is a copolymer of N-vinylpyrrolidone and unsubstituted or substituted vinylpyridine, in which pyridine fragments are partially quaternized with methyl iodide, represented by general formula (I):
where R denotes hydrogen or methyl, content of n monomer links of N is 5–85 mol.%, content of q monomer links Q is 5–85 mol.%, content v of monomer links V is 10–75 mol.% provided that 25 mol.% ≤ q+n ≤ 90 mol.% and v+n+q=100 mol.%, and the viscosity-average molecular weight of the copolymer Mμ is equal to 16–302 kDa.
EFFECT: imparting antiviral properties to influenza A virus to copolymers based on N-vinylpyrrolidone and optionally methylated vinylpyridines, high solubility of the disclosed copolymers in aqueous weakly acidic and neutral media.
