FIELD: accelerators.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the design of a target assembly of a compact neutron source for use in a complex based on a proton accelerator. Assembly comprises a vacuum chamber, inside which there is a rotating housing of a cooled drum of a target assembly with beryllium cells installed in it and a cooled drum of a target assembly. Housing of the cooled drum of the target assembly is made in the form of a hollow cylinder with windows in the side surface, in each of which there is a corresponding beryllium cell; the cooled drum of the target assembly is made with an axial channel for supplying a cooling liquid. Channel branches into radial channels for supplying cooling liquid to each said beryllium cell, wherein the contact point of the cooling liquid coming from said radial channel and the beryllium cell is made in the form of a pocket. In the lower part of the cooled drum of the target assembly there are spiral channels for withdrawal of cooling liquid from each pocket, which redirect it to the centre of the said drum, and the end of the said drum in the place of the pocket is made in the form of a blade.
EFFECT: increased heat removal with simultaneous reduction of cooling liquid layer.
