FIELD: target assembly design.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the design of the target assembly in neutron-producing devices based on a proton accelerator. The neutron-producing target unit contains a stationary vacuum chamber with an inlet for a proton beam and an exit for a beam of generated neutrons, a hollow drum rotating inside it with a beryllium ring installed at its end in the path of the proton beam. The drum is made with an axial tube, fixed for rotation in the holes of the vacuum chamber, and through this tube, the liquid cooling the beryllium ring is fed into and out of the drum. A stationary impeller is installed coaxially with the axial tube inside the rotating drum, which is configured to direct the coolant flow to the surface of the beryllium ring facing inside the drum, and also to prevent the rotation of the coolant volume together with the drum.
EFFECT: creation of a simple, including in operation, and compact neutron-producing target assembly with a dynamic target and an efficient cooling system of a simple design that does not require pre-treatment of the target.
