FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and a method for targeted delivery of carotenoid-type molecules. Disclosed is a novel approach to delivery of carotenoid molecules using water-soluble carotenoid-binding proteins having high selectivity with respect to individual carotenoids. Approach will make it possible to increase the efficiency of loading the active agent (carotenoid) into the platform for its delivery (here - protein globule) to 100%, as well as to increase photostability of the carotenoid molecule. As a system for synthesis of the carotenoid-protein complex, it is proposed to use biotechnological strains of microorganisms having a set of genes for synthesis of both components of the complex.
EFFECT: invention provides easy loading of the carotenoid into the delivery platform, easy purification and handling of the product (the stoichiometry of the complex is fixed), the possibility of high-precision control of the carotenoid concentration in the preparation and modification of the complex with specific marker molecules for targeted delivery.
