FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmic oncology and molecular biology, and can be used to assess the risk of metastasis after enucleation of an eye with large choroidal melanomas. Blood is sampled from patients with large choroidal melanomas at stage N0M0 after enucleation. MicroRNA is recovered from blood plasma. Expression of microRNA-27b is determined using real-time PCR. Obtained results are correlated with the control level obtained in healthy individuals. If observing 6-fold increase in the level of microRNA-27b expression in the patients in the postoperative period relative to the control, a high risk of metastasis is assessed.
EFFECT: method enables assessing the risk of metastasis after enucleation of an eye with large choroidal melanomas by determining expression of microRNA-27b in blood.
