FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-platinum catalysts for use as a second stage in a two-stage catalytic system for oxidising ammonia to NO in production of nitric acid. Described is a non-platinum catalyst for oxidation of ammonia in production of nitric acid, containing (wt.%): 58.8-69.2 Fe2O3; 14.85-17.4 Al2O3; 0.35-0.5 MgO or V2O5; 13.0-26.0 of a spent oil fraction cracking catalyst, which is a powder consisting of fine particles with an average size of about 1-2 mcm and containing mainly aluminium and silicon oxides, up to 2 wt.% of rare-earth elements, such as ReO, CeO2, La2O3, Sm2O3 and oxides of alkaline elements in amount of several tens to hundreds of ppm and in amount not exceeding 0.5 wt.%.

EFFECT: catalyst providing high output of nitrogen oxide when used in a two-stage system of ammonia oxidation in production of nitric acid under high pressure conditions.
