FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalytic chemistry, particularly to technology of a block non-platinum catalyst for oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen oxide in production of nitric acid. Disclosed is a method of producing a non-platinum catalyst, in which iron (III) oxide is mixed with aluminium and magnesium nitrates or aluminium nitrate and ammonium vanadate, and the resulting mixture is ground to obtain a catalyst mass. Obtained mass is calcined at 400 °C and molten petrolatum, oleic acid, ethyl alcohol are added thereto in weight ratio 1:0.20–0.3:0.02–0.04:0.12–0.15. Then the obtained mixture is formed into honeycomb structures and heat treated at temperature of 850–1,000 °C. Before moulding, a spent oil fraction cracking catalyst is added to the catalyst mass at a weight ratio of catalyst mass : spent oil fraction cracking catalyst equal to 1:0.15–0.30.
EFFECT: high output of nitrogen oxide under conditions of high pressure, as well as simple method of making the catalyst.
