FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used for refining molten steel in a ladle. In the process of gas mixing, the molten steel surface is exposed to hydrogen gas or a gaseous mixture of hydrogen gas and an inert gas in the form of plasma gas from the plasma generator above the steel melt under conditions which satisfy the expression GP×(H2)/Q is more than or equal to 0.05, where GP is flow rate (n.m3/min) of plasma-forming gas, H2 is concentration of gaseous hydrogen (vol.%) in plasma-forming gas, Q is rate of circulation of molten steel in ladle (t/min). Plasma treatment reduces amount of one, two or more elements selected from oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur contained in molten steel.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain high-purity steel with fewer impurities.
