SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for storage and retrieval of objects, in particular for storage and retrieval of mainly flat elements of limited thickness, namely coils of flexible tapes. For this, system (1) for storing and retrieving coils (2) located on trays (3) arranged in accumulation structure (6), comprises a plurality of walls (8), which pass in vertical direction (Z), are located at a distance from each other, face each other and are located level one after another in horizontal direction (X), orthogonal to vertical direction (Z). Between walls (8) there is a plurality of receiving compartments (9), which are located one above the other at a distance from each other in vertical direction (Z) and are limited on walls (8) by means of guiding means (10), determining transverse direction (Y) of inserting trays (3) into said receiving compartments (9) or removing trays from them. Transverse direction (Y) is orthogonal to frontal plane (K) of accumulating structure (6), to which horizontal direction (X) and vertical direction (Z) are related. Depth (9a) of receiving compartments (9), measured in transverse direction (Y), is at least equal to length (3a) of two or more trays (3), which are located in one plane with each other when placed level one after another within the corresponding receiving compartment (9).

EFFECT: excluding the possibility of operator errors when removing coils from the corresponding trays or when placing the coils on the corresponding trays.
