IN SITU FORMATION OF THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE ELASTIC LOW-DENSITY FOAMS Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC C08G18/10 C08G18/24 C08G18/32 C08G18/42 C08G18/48 C08G18/66 C08G18/76 C08J9/12 C08J9/14

Abstract RU 2829440 C1

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for in situ production of thermoplastic polyurethane elastic foam. Method involves combining the following ingredients in situ at an isocyanate index between 90 and 110: a) a polyisocyanate composition, b) an isocyanate-active composition, c) at least one catalyst for producing polyurethanes, d) a blowing agent composition, e) at least one compound acting as a surfactant, f) optionally other additives, such as fire retardants, fillers, pigments and/or stabilizers. Polyisocyanate composition contains at least 75 wt.% difunctional isocyanate compounds based on the total weight of all isocyanate compounds in the polyisocyanate composition. Isocyanate-active composition contains at least 75 wt.% of difunctional isocyanate-active compounds in the isocyanate-active composition. Content of water in the reaction mixture is less than 0.1 wt.%.

EFFECT: obtained thermoplastic polyurethane elastic foam has a predominantly open-cell structure with content of open cells ≥50% by volume based on total foam volume when measured in accordance with ASTM D6226-10 and apparent density below 200 kg/m3 and is also suitable for thermal recycling and can be processed in melt after service life.
