OSTEOINTEGRATED DEVICE FOR LONG-TERM PERCUTANEOUS AND TRANSCRANIAL ATTACHMENT OF ELECTRODES ON MAMMALS Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B5/251 A61B5/291 A61D1/00

Abstract RU 2829633 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment. Osteointegrated device for protection of transcranial and/or bone-fixed electrodes comprises a body, a cover and a substrate. Housing is made with the possibility of placement of projecting parts of transcranially fixed electrodes in its volume. Cover is made with possibility of threaded tight connection with housing. Substrate is made of a biocompatible bioresorbable polymer material with the possibility of tight connection with the body and fixation on the scalped bones of the skull. Shape of the contact surface of the substrate is configured to fit the substrate tightly along its perimeter to the mating surface of the skull. Substrate is made from material containing 10 to 20 wt.% of nanoparticles of bioactive ceramics. Body and the cover are made of a bioinert biocompatible polymer characterized by a higher impact strength compared to the substrate. Through slots for placement of bone screws are located at an acute angle relative to axis of symmetry of the body, which is made with possibility of placement of protruding parts of transcranially fixed electrode leads, and protrusions with through slots for placement of bone screws are arranged in pairs on opposite sides from axis passing through centres of electrodes.

EFFECT: tight osteointegrated connection of the device with the mammalian skull with its transcranial arrangement with the possibility of protection of electrode systems of abduction considerably protruding above the skull surface from external influences, minimizing the risk of fibrous tissue formation and instability at the substrate/bone interface, as well as minimizing the risk of rejection and chronic inflammation at the implant-skin interface.
