FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ultrasonic diagnostics, and can be used for differential diagnosis of malignant and benign parathyroid gland (PTG) formation in a patient with primary hyperparathyroidism. A neoplasm is detected with the help of a gray-scale ultrasound, the size of the new growth is measured and the presence of calcinates is determined. Additionally, contrast-enhanced ultrasonography using an endovascular contrast agent (ECA) is performed and a degree of contrast is measured in the growth area, a contrast accumulation pattern, a contrast accumulation pattern, a maximum contrast accumulation intensity value determining, time from the beginning of the ECA entry into the new growth area to the maximum value of the contrast accumulation intensity. If observing: new growths measuring the greatest measured value of 3 cm and more are assigned 1 point, less than 3 cm - 0 points; calcinations (one and more) are assigned 1 point, absence of calcinates - 0 points; hyper-contrast growth is assigned 2 points, iso-contrast or hypocontrast - 1 point, absence of contrasting - 0 points; uneven accumulation of contrast is assigned 1 point, uniform - 0 points; chaotic accumulation of contrast is assigned 2 points, ordered accumulation of contrast from periphery to center - 0 points; values of maximum intensity of accumulation of contrast 900 AU and more are assigned 2 points, less than specified value - 0 points; time from the beginning of the ECA entry into the new growth area to the maximum value of the contrast accumulation intensity of 3 s and less is 2 points, more than 3 s - 0 points. Obtained points are summed up. If the total value is 1 to 4 points inclusive, a benign neoplasm is stated. If value is 9 to 11 points, malignant neoplasm is observed.
EFFECT: method provides differential diagnosis of malignant and benign parathyroid (PTG) formation by assessing quantitative and qualitative contrast enhancement values.
