FIELD: chemical or physical processes.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to grafted polypropylene containing an anhydride group for insulating material, as well as to a method for preparation thereof. Anhydride group-containing graft polypropylene for an insulating material contains structural blocks obtained from a polypropylene copolymer, structural blocks obtained from an anhydride monomer, and structural blocks obtained from an alkenyl-containing polymerisable monomer. Content of structural blocks obtained from an anhydride monomer and an alkenyl-containing polymerisable monomer and being in a grafted state in an anhydride group containing grafted polypropylene, is 0.1–5 wt.% by weight of grafted polypropylene anhydride group. Molar ratio of structural blocks obtained from anhydride monomer to structural blocks obtained from alkenyl-containing polymerisable monomer in graft polypropylene containing anhydride group is 1:1–20. Polypropylene copolymer has at least one of the following characteristics: comonomer content is 0.5–40 mol.%; content of xylene-soluble substances is 2–80 wt.%; comonomer content in xylene-soluble substances is 10–70 wt.%; ratio of intrinsic viscosity of xylene-soluble substances to polypropylene copolymer is 0.3–5.

EFFECT: grafted polypropylene containing an anhydride group according to the present invention can retain both mechanical properties and electrical properties at higher operating temperature.
