FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a device for compression testing of soil, which includes a base, a housing, a working ring, a bottom with a perforated insert, a perforated die and a thrust ring. At that, the working ring is divided along the generatrices into identical sections, on the inner surface of the housing there are vertical slots, in which the driven nuts fixed on the outer surface of the sections and the drive screws passed through them are placed, and in the thrust ring there is a slot, the profile of which coincides with the cross section of the sections, wherein the height of the sections of the working ring is determined from the ratio l>2b+a, where b is the initial height of the soil sample, a is the distance from the upper edge of the slots to the top of the thrust ring.
EFFECT: invention provides higher accuracy of results of measurements of coefficients of primary and secondary consolidation of peat and peat clay soils.
