SUBSTANCE: intended to determine the deformation and strength characteristics of soils in the laboratory. An odometer is disclosed for carrying out tests for virgin compression and for shearing soils, containing a working ring, a cylindrical cage, an upper movable stamp, the movement of which is carried out using a mechanism for vertical loading of a soil sample, a lower fixed perforated stamp and a tray for collecting, draining and supplying water, and the upper perforated stamp contains an additional stamp, the movement of which is carried out using the second loading mechanism, the lower fixed perforated stamp is made annular, and a rod with a clamping bolt is located in the tray.
EFFECT: increasing the number of characteristics obtained when testing one soil sample, and a reduction in financial and labor costs for determining these characteristics.
