SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of adjusting optical systems containing off-axis parabolic mirrors, and can be used in laser optical systems. Method of adjusting an off-axis parabolic mirror involves focusing collimated laser radiation with an off-axis parabolic mirror adjusted by varying the angle of inclination along the horizontal and vertical axes. Pulsed laser radiation with pulse power sufficient for multiphoton ionisation of air is used, multiphoton ionisation zones are formed in astigmatic foci of the off-axis parabolic mirror and, observing the multiphoton ionisation zones, the off-axis parabolic mirror is adjusted to align the multiphoton ionisation zones.
