FIELD: laser technologies.

SUBSTANCE: method of starting optical discharge consists in gas breakdown with formation of plasma region, carried out by focusing radiation of supporting and igniting lasers in discharge chamber, wherein igniting laser radiation is focused by off-axis paraboloid mirror so that its focus reaches the region of optical discharge being ignited. Off-axis paraboloid mirror is simultaneously helically displaced in plane perpendicular to reflected beam and oscillates along reflected beam axis.

EFFECT: reduced ignition time.
