SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an aerosol delivery system, a method for detecting cartridges used with an aerosol delivery device and an aerosol delivery device. Aerosol delivery system comprises an age verification system configured to verify the age of the user, and an aerosol delivery device that provides an aerosol to a user and is configured to contain one of a plurality of consumables. Each of consumables is assigned a unique identifier, which is used to authenticate one of the plurality of consumables by comparing the unique identifier of one of the plurality of consumables with a confirmed list of unique identifiers of consumables associated with the user. For operation of the aerosol delivery device, it is required that the user is verified by age, and the consumables are authenticated.
EFFECT: accurate identification of a user by age is provided.
