SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neonatology, and can be used to assess the severity of the condition of newborns. Central nervous system, the respiratory system, the cardiovascular system, the body temperature are assessed, characterized by the fact that the presence or absence of oxygen dependence, capillary blood pH and lactate are additionally assessed. Derived values are scored from 0 to 2 to be summed up. If the total score falls within range of 1 to 2, the newborn’s condition is considered to be moderately severe, while the total score falls within range of 3 to 8 shows the severe condition, while the total score falls within range of 9 to 14, the newborn’s condition is considered to be extremely severe.

EFFECT: method enables the objective assessment of the severity of the condition and the organ dysfunction in the newborns and the well-timed preventive measures that enables improving the health indicators and quality of life in such children by assessing a set of the most significant indicators.
