FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method of making a silver-plated wire-workpiece from copper or a copper alloy, a method of making a silver-plated strand from copper or copper alloy, silver-plated strand from copper or copper alloy, silver-plated electric conductor, layer of electromagnetic shielding, as well as to electric wire and electric cable and their applications. Method of making silver-plated wire-workpiece from copper or copper alloy with thickness of silver layer from 1.5 to 15 mcm involves electrolytic deposition of silver at pulsed current with change of current direction to reverse in bath containing from 40 to 70 g/l of silver cyanide and from 90 to 150 g/l of potassium cyanide. Deposition is carried out under the following conditions: average current density Jm is 1.5-15 A/dm2; pulse frequency f ranges from 0.8 to 1.6 Hz; coefficient Q of pulse filling is from 50 to 80%; cathode peak current density Jc ranges from 3 to 11 A/dm2; current density of the anode peak Ja ranges from 1 to 5 A/dm2; cathode pulse maintenance time Tc ranges from 0.2 to 0.8 s and anode pulse maintenance time Ta ranges from 0.06 to 0.5 s.
EFFECT: inventions make it possible to reduce thickness of silver layer applied on electric conductors and ensure production of electric wires and cables having high resistance to oxidation and corrosion.
