FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a thermionic generator and is intended for direct conversion of thermal energy into electrical energy. Device comprises a heated cylindrical capsule with an inner cylinder, made with possibility of rotation, an electronic polarity switch or electronic switches with a pulse generator, step-up transformer, electric energy converter, diode or diode unit and electric accumulators. Capsule is made of high-temperature steel, high-temperature ceramics or high heat-resistance glass. Liquid metal with low pressure of metal vapors is used in capsule as cathode, heated to temperature close to its boiling point, having low work function of electrons. Rotation of the capsule is carried out by an electric motor or from the dynamic head of the heating coolant striking the blades made on the capsule, capsule rotation speed is controlled by an electronic control unit. Electric voltage is supplied to cathode and anode in pulse mode to create pulse cycle, forming pulsed thermionic emission and pulsed secondary emission of electrons at the anode during cathode heating. Obtained anode current is directed to electric power converter.
EFFECT: increasing electric power of the generator with possibility of its use as an independent source of electric energy or as a source of electric energy in designs of boiler units and cogeneration plants.
