FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to neurosurgery, oncology, medical radiology, and can be used to predict the effectiveness of repeated radiation therapy of recurrent cerebral gliomas. PET-CT of the brain is carried out with amino acid radiomarkers to obtain a series of images. Conducting MRI of the brain without using a contrast agent with obtaining a series of images of anatomical sections of the brain, time-weighted T2, and using a contrast agent to obtain a series of images of anatomical sections of the brain, time-weighted T1. Obtained series of images of brain, as well as data on the isodose of the previously performed radiation therapy in DICOM format is imported into the stereotactic radiosurgical treatment planning system, are combined based on a single system of stereotaxic coordinates to obtain a combined series of images. Geometrical parameters of tumor recurrence are determined—linear dimensions or volume, as well as the location of the recurrent tumor in relation to the isodose of the previously performed radiation therapy, i.e. determining whether the recurrence or its part is within the isodose or beyond it, and the size of the recurrence or its part located within the isodose or beyond it. Measurement results are used to conclude on the effectiveness of the repeated radiation treatment and the frequency of postradiation complications.
EFFECT: method enables high-reliability prediction of efficacy of repeated radiation therapy in patients with recurrent cerebral gliomas by determining geometric parameters of tumor recurrence and comparing their location relative to isodose of previously performed radiation therapy.
