SUBSTANCE: technical result is achieved due to that determination of target paging period in inactive state of radio resource control (RRC-Idle) is carried out on the basis of paging time window (PTW) in idle state. Idle PTW locates the window by using an extended discontinuous reception (eDRX) parameter in idle mode. Within the PTW in idle state, the shortest period of: a radio access network (RAN) paging period configured for an RRC-Inactive state, a UE-specific paging period or a default cell paging period. Outside the PTW in the idle state, the RAN paging period configured for the RRC-Idle state as the target paging period is determined.
EFFECT: reduced power consumption of user equipment (UE) in a narrow-band Internet of things (NB-IoT) standard.
