FIELD: gas engineering.
SUBSTANCE: set of inventions relates to the production of blocky microporous carbon adsorbents with increased adsorption capacity according to natural gas and methane and can be used in systems for storing, distributing and transporting natural gas and methane. The method for production of blocky microporous carbon adsorbents on the basis of peat comprises treating the peat raw material until a homogeneous mass is produced, mixing the processed raw material with the chemical activator and the binder to a homogeneous paste, granulating the mixture, drying, carbonization, activation, removal of mineral impurities, alkaline solution treatment. The novelty is that the adsorbent undergoes an additional treatment with an acid solution, the aqueous treatment to the pH of not less than 4, the obtained adsorbent granules are crushed to an average fraction of particles of 600-900 µm and the crushed adsorbent is mixed with the binder until a homogeneous mass is obtained, moulding at pressures from 200 to 500 kgf/cm2 and drying at the temperature from 110 to 150ºC for at least 48 hours. The blocky microporous carbon adsorbent obtained through said method on the basis of peat has a micropore volume of 0.55÷0.68 cm3/g with an effective average micropore width of 1.5 to 1.7 nm and a bulk density of at least 600 kg/m3.
EFFECT: said set of inventions aims at creation of a microporous adsorbent based on peat with increased adsorption capacity to natural gas, methane, with mechanical strength sufficient for use in storage systems experiencing multi-cycle sorption loads: «adsorption-desorption».
