METHOD FOR INTRAORAL FUNCTIONAL DIAGNOSIS OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2832403 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine and is intended for use in dentistry in diagnosing the state of the temporomandibular joint. A light-cured composite material is used to form a plate with dimensions of 10 mm * 10 mm * 0.2 mm and polymerized for 20 seconds with a lamp for polymerisation of the light-curable composite material with wavelength of 400-500 nm. A cone of 1 mm * 1 mm is then formed from the light-cured composite material, which is also polymerised for 20 seconds with a lamp with wavelength of 400-500 nm. After that, the formed plate is fixed on the cutting surface of the central incisors of the upper jaw, and the formed cone is fixed on the cutting edge of the central incisors of the lower jaw with the vertex facing the cutting edge of the central incisors of the upper jaw. Paint is applied on the cone and the patient is asked to move the lower jaw forward, then back and perform lateral movements from the position of the central ratio of the jaws, as a result, on the plate fixed to the upper jaw obtaining a linear pattern defining a trajectory of movement of the lower jaw and displaying a Bennett angle. At the same time clear and even lines forming the shape of an isosceles triangle indicate the absence of pathology of the temporomandibular joint, and the curves and broken lines indicate the pathology of the temporomandibular joint and the purpose of a detailed examination of the temporomandibular joint using a digital axiograph or magnetic resonance imaging.

EFFECT: method enables detecting a pathology of the temporomandibular joint at early stages and conducting the treatment or referring the patient to a gnathologist in a timely manner, enables assessing the clinical course of the disease in dynamics, as well as the effectiveness of the therapy at its various stages.
