FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to X-ray diagnostics, and can be used for neuroimaging prediction of unfavourable outcome of facial nerve neuropathy in children. On 4th-14th day, magnetic resonance imaging of the brain and cranial nerves with intravenous contrast enhancement is performed. Further, diffusion-tensor images (DTI) are obtained. By constructing circular regions of interest, values of fractional anisotropia (FA) in the area of motor nuclei of facial nerves are estimated, and indices of the healthy and involved sides are compared. Accumulation of the contrast agent by the facial nerve at the level of the labyrinth or tympanic segments in a combination with a decrease in FA by more than 0.07 on the affected side as compared to the healthy side shows an unfavourable outcome of the disease.
EFFECT: method provides well-timed correction of the conducted therapy due to obtaining DTI and assessment of FA values.
