METHOD FOR PREDICTING TRANSFORMATION OF CHRONIC DISSEMINATED ENCEPHALOMYELITIS IN MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC G01N33/53

Abstract RU 2740243 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to clinical laboratory diagnostics and infectious diseases of central nervous system in children, and can be used in a wide clinical practice for predicting the transformation of disseminated encephalomyelitis in multiple sclerosis in children. It involves clinical, laboratory, neurovisualizing, etiological studies in children with the onset of the disease at age of 13 ± 0.9 years and detecting: cerebral spasmodic symptoms in the form of headache with consciousness disturbance, presence of polymorphism of clinical manifestations in the form of sensitivity disorder, face hemihypesthesia due to trigeminal nerve involvement, intentional tremor, nystagmus, reflex pyramidal disorders developing with underlying absence of common infectious manifestations, in combination with verification of chronic persistent combined herpes virus infection of EBV + HHV-6 + VZV or EBV + HHV-6, presence of an intrathecal IgG synthesis index. If the intrathecal IgG synthesis is within 1.1–1.9, detecting MRI from 9 to 14 foci in the brain and spinal cord with accumulation of a contrast agent and recording visual evoked potentials of the latent period P100 more than 124 ms and inter-peak interval III–V ≥ 2.3 ms predict a risk of transformation of chronic disseminated encephalomyelitis in multiple sclerosis.

EFFECT: method enables predicting course and outcome of disseminated encephalomyelitis in multiple sclerosis in children, which contributes to timely correction of therapy and improvement of disease outcomes.
