FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of silicate inorganic pigments of blue range, which are used in making paints, plastics and ceramics. Disclosed is a method of producing a blue pigment based on zinc silicate doped with nickel, comprising holding a mixture of a preliminarily obtained solution of zinc acetate dihydrate and nickel acetate tetrahydrate, taken in a stoichiometric ratio, and an aqueous solution of a silicon ion source, followed by annealing, in which the silicon ion source used is an aqueous solution containing 39.2 wt.% sodium metasilicate 9-hydrate, taken in a stoichiometric ratio to an aqueous solution containing 57.4 wt.% zinc acetate dihydrate and 3.4 wt.% of nickel acetate tetrahydrate, wherein to an aqueous solution containing zinc acetate dihydrate and nickel acetate tetrahydrate, an aqueous solution of sodium metasilicate 9-hydrate is slowly added, after which the pH of the mixture of solutions is adjusted to pH equal to 9.5-10.5 by adding 20% sodium hydroxide and held for 1.0-1.5 hours at room temperature, obtained precipitate is filtered, washed with distilled water and annealed at temperature 800-810 °C for 30-45 minutes, followed by cooling to room temperature. Disclosed method of producing a blue pigment based on zinc silicate doped with nickel enables to obtain a pigment with a willemite structure and enables to obtain a pure single-phase product.
EFFECT: method enables to reduce the annealing time and use environmentally friendly products with the possibility of scaling the method; obtained pigment material is suitable for operation in air at normal atmospheric pressure and high temperature.
