FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing a fluoroalkane compound (A) having four or more carbon atoms and having carbon atoms in position 2 and position 3, each of which is bonded with one hydrogen atom and one fluorine atom, wherein the method includes a reduction step, wherein a halogenated alkane compound (b) having four or more carbon atoms and having carbon atoms in position 1 and position 2, each of which is bonded to one chlorine, bromine or iodine atom and at least one fluorine atom, undergoes a reduction reaction in the presence of a reducing agent, in which the fluoroalkane compound (A) has at least at one end a group represented by formula (1A): CF3CHFCHF- (1A), and the halogenated alkane compound (b) has at least at one end a group represented by formula (2A): CF2X1CFX2CF2- (2A), where X1 and X2 are identical or different and denote a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom.
EFFECT: method enables to efficiently obtain the desired compound.
