FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, namely to a bariatric clamp and a method for installation thereof. Bariatric clamp having a proximal end and a distal end and a longitudinal axis formed between them comprises a first elongated portion, a second elongated portion, a bent portion, a fastening portion and an engagement portion. Method of installing a bariatric clamp comprising at least a first elongated portion, a second elongated portion and a flexible hinge, according to which an opening is created in the patient’s abdominal cavity to provide access to the patient’s stomach, the bariatric clamp is placed in an open position such that the first end of the first elongated portion and the first end of the second elongated portion are open to each other such that the first end of the first elongated portion and the first end of the second elongated portion are located on opposite ends of the bariatric clamp, bariatric clamp is inserted into the abdominal cavity through the opening while the bariatric clamp is in the open position, wherein the first elongated portion and the second elongated portion of the bariatric clamp separately pass through the opening in the abdominal cavity at different points in time, placing a second elongated portion of the bariatric clamp adjacent a portion of the outer surface of the second side of the stomach; placing the first elongated portion of the bariatric clamp adjacent to a portion of the outer surface of the first side of the stomach, and closing the bariatric clamp to apply pressure on the outer surface of the first side of the stomach and the outer surface of the second side of the stomach to provide at least partial separation of the cavity inside the stomach. In the second embodiment, the bariatric clamp having a longitudinal axis between the proximal end and the distal end comprises a first elongated element, a second elongated element and a curved element. In a third embodiment, a bariatric clamp configured to divide the stomach to create at least a partial stomach for ingestion of food adjacent to the esophagus and to create an excluded portion of the stomach, wherein the septum-forming portion of the bariatric clamp is configured to apply pressure to the stomach to separate the stomach, and wherein the channel-forming portion of the bariatric clamp is configured to allow the gastric fluid flow between the excluded portion of the stomach and the gastric pocket, wherein the bariatric clamp comprises a first elongated portion, a second elongated portion, a curved portion and a locking structure.

EFFECT: use of the group of inventions makes it possible to increase the width of the clamp opening to accommodate different thickness of the stomach when pressure is applied to the stomach.
